Inside IoT Fleet Tracking
Main components of the IoT fleet management system:
Fleet Connectivity:
The backbone of our system relies on robust fleet connectivity. Through GPS trackers, OBD-II dongles, and other devices, we gather comprehensive data on vehicle location, speed, odometer readings, fuel levels, engine health, and overall vehicle status.
Remote Fleet Configuration and Control (RPC):
Boxtech ensures secure data exchange and implements role-based access control to protect confidential information and comply with industry standards.
Geo-fencing:
Define virtual boundaries with Geo-fencing, setting zones, speed limits, or duration parameters. Actions are triggered when a vehicle enters or exits a geo-fence, such as sending SMS alerts, raising alarms, or initiating workflows.
IoT for Fleet Management:
Organize your fleet into custom groups with hierarchical structures. Manage drivers, vehicles, and configurations at different levels, offering tailored control at the fleet, group, or individual vehicle level.
Driver Management:
Manage drivers and assign them to vehicles as needed. This feature ensures a cohesive coordination of personnel.
Real-time Monitoring:
Access real-time insights through a dashboard. Monitor fleet status, locations, alerts, and events, with the ability to swiftly drill down to specific vehicles or drivers.
Reporting:
Generate detailed reports on fleet, group, vehicle, and driver levels. Reports, including:
- vehicle leaves configurable route perimeter;
- the vehicle is not moving for 2 minutes while on the route;
- fuel level is low;
- violation of speed limits.
Integration Module:
Our system integrates with 3rd party apps via REST APIs, webhooks, queues, etc. This enables the configuration of end-to-end business workflows. For example, in the event of a safety incident, the system can send notifications to managers and create tickets in the ticketing system.
Additional Features of Complete Fleet Management using IoT:
Document Management:
Manage crucial documents such as driver licenses, insurance, registration documents, and maintenance records. Trigger notifications when these documents are nearing expiration, enabling proactive actions.
Automated Driver Assignment:
Streamline operations by using RFID cards for driver identification, allowing automatic assignment to vehicles at the beginning of each day.
Fleet Safety Notifications:
Receive timely notifications about safety incidents, allowing fleet managers to respond promptly or triggering emergency response services.
Fleet Tracking Dashboard Examples
As part of this solution, we have created a dashboard that displays data from tracking fleet management sensors. This dashboard helps to monitor and control location, speed, and fuel level in real-time. Our dashboard has multiple states, main state and bus state.
Main state contains an interactive map for monitoring the movement of transport, a list of existing buses with detailed information about them, and a table of Alarms.
Bus contains an interactive map of the history of the route, the current route area, detailed information about the bus, and corresponding alarms.
Collected data is processed via the rule engine to raise alarms when:
- vehicle leaves configurable route perimeter;
- the vehicle is not moving for 2 minutes while on the route;
- fuel level is low;
- violation of speed limits.
The following interactive dashboard presents an intelligent visualization of IoT data that you can easily integrate into your IoT solution. See more details here.
